EMPOWERING STUDENTS

Every year students benefit from generous donor support.

Here are stories from students and alumni who, because of their Dominican education, have heightened self-confidence, ability to solve problems, a strong sense of self-efficacy, and have reason to give back their talents to the world.

YOUR SUPPORT MAKES A DIFFERENCE TO GENERATIONS OF STUDENTS

MENTORING STUDENTS THAT NEED IT MOST

"Now in my third year of teaching, I’m so grateful to be in an environment where I can make an impact on young students. I started teaching during COVID and witnessed the detrimental impact it had on young students. Looking back, I see now how my amazing teachers at Dominican impacted the decisions I’m making today. I want to relay that teaching philosophy onto other students, especially students who need it most. "

SUPPORTING STUDENTS THROUGH CHRIST

"My time at Dominican really laid the foundation for everything I am doing in my current position, and even what I did in college. As an English teacher, much of my enthusiasm for the subject and knowledge of the content came in the classroom with Mr. Weiler. My teachers at Dominican had a passion for what they taught and I model my teaching off of many of them. Being in a high school that recognized our faith as so important to what we do was pivotal in my life. I am so thankful I’m in a role where I can empower students by focusing on the whole person in my approach to academics. I mimic the space for my students that Dominican created for me so that we can continue to grow in our faith through every lesson plan."

DEVELOPING HEALTHY LIFESTYLES FOR YOUTH

"I have a natural tendency to serve others and Dominican pushed me to fulfill that. My first volunteer experience was for St. Francis Children’s Center my junior and senior year. Looking back, it’s not surprising that I now work with students of all ages for a living. Through SKY Schools, I provide youth with practical tools and life skills to manage stress and emotions so they can have a healthy body, a healthy mind, and a healthy lifestyle. I loved my Dominican family and it’s showed me how I can be a good mentor and family to the youth that I impact every day."
