SPREADING GOD'S LOVE THROUGH EDUCATION

"At an early age, I knew I wanted to devote my profession to serving the church and teaching young minds. Working in a Catholic school allows me to share my faith, pray with students and colleagues, and celebrate the Eucharist with them. I always felt valued as a student, and I feel that the teachers at Dominican brought out the best in me. The five core values of the Sinsinawa Dominicans have stayed with me and have shaped who I am: Truth, Compassion, Justice, Community, and Partnership. Partnership is to the key to being a good educator and Dominican taught me that. I feel very humbled to be called to serve God as a Catholic school principal."

HELPING STUDENTS FIND THEIR PATH TO CHRIST

"For the first two years I attended Dominican, I was not interested in a relationship with God. However, members of the community saw faith and the fire of the Holy Spirit within me that I didn't even see in myself. It was their invitation to me to take an active role in my faith that led me to experience the Junior retreat, Kairos, and little did I know at the time, it would significantly change my relationship with God and my future plans. After hearing stories of my classmate’s lived experiences, I was awed by Christ’s compassion. It was from this invitation to lead in faith and the transformational retreat experiences, like Kairos, that as a young adult, I wasn’t sure what I was called to do but I knew I wanted to lead and help bring others into a closer relationship with Christ. I am blessed every day for the Holy Spirit working through those around me in my teenage years at Dominican, it has made me into the person I am today. I am so thankful I now have the opportunity to help students find their path to Christ and to live out the words from Dominican Saint Catherine of Siena, "To be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire."

PREACHING GOD'S WORD TO MY PEERS

"Being on the Veritas Preaching Team at Dominican gives me a chance to impact the school community and help students better relate to the readings at mass. I love that I am learning about myself and my beliefs while writing my reflections. Living a Christ-centered life helps change my perspective in difficult situations and Dominican gives me so many opportunities to think about my relationship with Christ. Dominican has taught me to appreciate the gifts I've been given. The students and staff at Dominican form a community like none other, always lifting me and each other up, so I think giving back to my community is the least I can do."
